Winter tourism : on the resort slopes
Situated at the heart of four great skiable domains - Les Portes du Soleil, Le Grand Massif, Les Aravis et Le Pays du Mont-Blanc - are 49 winter sports resorts that provide the entire range of winter sports activities. They have all kept their village character and traditions, yet are fully modernised. The most prestigious, Chamonix, Megève, Morzine, La Clusaz, St Gervais, attract a foreign clientele seeking luxury hotels. The most family-oriented, Les Carroz, les Contamines-Montjoie, Les Gets, les Houches, Châtel, Samoëns, Le Grand Bornand, Combloux and the most contemporary, Flaine and Avoriaz, all have excellent ski slopes.
