The Department supports innovation and with the support of the Departmental Economic Agency, has been involved since 1993 in :

	. Developing the synergy between research and industry
	. Setting up technological platforms (a network of experts)
	. Fostering cross-border co-operation with Switzerland

From business training to fundamental research, there is a very strong link with the economic tissue. With jointly competing industrial companies, the University of Savoie and very active skills centres, the Haute Savoie has ensured the means to implement a research policy adapted to needs.

The research laboratories linked to the University of Savoie also bring competition in the field of technology transfer for companies in the Department.

There is the committed co-operation of the CESI, the premier European Research Centre for the construction of the Large Hydron Collider; it encourages technology transfers to benefit business.
